The Stormtite™ 620 Series is an ideal choice for keeping climate-controlled air in and the elements out. Like the 610 Series, the Stormtite™ 620 offers the option of a steel, stainless steel or aluminum curtain in an array of finishes and colors. For enhanced thermal efficiency, the 620 is furnished with flat slat profiles only, as well as weatherstripping on the exterior side of the guides, on the bottom bar and a hood baffle. 1.01 Work Included
The doors will be 620 Series as manufactured by Overhead Door Corporation.
1.02 Related Work
Opening preparation, miscellaneous or structural metal work, access panels, finish or field painting, field electrical wiring, wire, conduit, fuses and disconnect switches are in the Scope of Work of other divisions or trades.
1.03 Quality Assurance
In accordance with accepted quality assurance guidelines for motor-operated doors, both the door and electric operator (optional) shall be manufactured by a single-source producer of door systems; as by Overhead Door Corporation.
2.01 Curtain
Interlocking roll-formed slats as specified following. Endlocks shall be attached to each end of alternate slats to prevent lateral movement.
Flat profile type F-265 for doors between 18'4" (5588 mm) and 25'4" (7722 mm) wide, fabricated of 20-gauge galvanized steel (18-gauge galvanized steel) (20-gauge stainless steel) (18-gauge aluminum).
Flat profile type F-265 for doors between 25'4" (7722 mm) and 40' (12,192 mm) and 40' (12,192 mm) wide, fabricated of 18-gauge galvanized steel (16-gauge galvanized steel) (18-gauge aluminum).
2.02 Bottom Bar
Weatherstripped, extruded aluminum for doors up to 15'4" (4674 mm) wide. Weatherstripped two steel angles for doors over 15'4" (4674 mm) wide. (Two galvanized steel angles with weatherseal.)
2.03 Guides
Guides shall be roll-formed, steel shapes for openings up to 15'4" (4.7 m) wide. On wider openings, guides shall be three (3) structural steel angles with a minimum thickness of 3/16" (5 mm). The guides shall be weatherstripped with a vinyl weatherseal at each jamb, on the exterior curtain side. (Interior curtain side weatherseal is optional.) Guides shall be equipped with windlock bars as required to meet the minimum design windload of 20 psf. (Greater windloads are available as options upon request.) (Optional guide materials include aluminum and stainless steel.)
2.04 Brackets
Brackets shall be hot-rolled steel plate (stainless steel) to support the counterbalance, curtain and hood. (Galvanized steel plate is an option.)
2.05 Counterbalance
The counterbalance shall be adjustable helical torsion springs housed in a steel tube or pipe barrel, supporting the curtain with a deflection limited to .03" (0.8 mm) per foot of span [width]. Designed for 20,000 cycles. (Optional cycle designs are available, such as 50,000 or 100,000 cycles.) Counterbalance shall be adjustable by means of an adjusting tension wheel.
2.06 Hood
The hood shall be minimum 24-gauge galvanized steel. (22-gauge steel and aluminum or stainless steel material are optional.) Intermediate supports shall be furnished to support the hood where required on wider openings. The hood shall be supplied with an internal hood baffle weatherseal. (Lintel weatherseals are available as options.)
2.07 Operation
Manual push-up up to 84 sq. ft. (7804 sq. mm) or 12' x 7' (3658 mm x 2143 mm). Above 84 sq. ft. (7804 sq. mm) or 12' x 7' (3658 mm x 2143 mm), operation shall be manual chain hoist. (Optional motor and crank operation.)
2.08 Locking
Manual push-up doors shall have interior bottom bar slide bolts, suitable for padlocking by others. Manual chain hoist operated doors shall have chain keeper locks suitable for padlocking by others. (Cylinder locks are optional. Manufacturer's standard cylinder is supplied or master-keyed cylinder may be furnished by others.)
When electric motor operation is chosen, and when cylinder and/or slide bolt locks are specified, interlock switches are recommended to e specified to prevent door curtain travel when the lock rods are engaged in the guides.
2.09 Finish
Curtain slats and hoods shall be galvanized per ASTM A-653 and shall receive a rust-inhibitive, roll-coating process, including baked-on prime paint to be .2 mils thick, and a baked-on polyester top coat to be .6 mils thick. All non-galvanized exposed ferrous surfaces shall receive one coat of rust-inhibitive primer. (OHD ColorSpec optional powder coat finish).
Aluminum: Slats and hood shall e aluminum with mill finish (clear anodized finish) (bronze anodized finish).
3.01 Execution
The 620 Series rolling service doors shall be installed in accordance with Overhead Door Corporation instructions and standards. Installation will be by authorized Overhead Door Corporation representatives.
