When economy and ease of operation in a rolling steel door are key considerations, the choice is easy. The Coil-Away™ 600 Series provides both value and quality in a light-duty, highly attractive door. The CoilAway™ rolling door is fabricated of 24 or 26 gauge galvanized steel (depending on door width) for strength, with durability ensured by the door’s steel guides and brackets. It’s an ideal closure for any number of light commercial and industrial applications and is designed to fit openings up to 16' wide and 16' high (4877 mm by 4877 mm).

1.01 Work Included
The doors will be 600 Series as manufactured by Overhead Door Corporation.
1.02 Related Work
Opening preparation, miscellaneous or structural metal work, access panels, finish or field painting, field electrical wiring, wire, conduit, fuses and disconnect switches are in the Scope of Work of other divisions or trades.
1.03 Quality Assurance
In accordance with accepted quality assurance guidelines for motor-operated doors, both the door and electric operator (optional) shall be manufactured by a single-source producer of door systems; as by Overhead Door Corporation.
2.01 Curtain
Interlocking roll-formed galvanized steel slats, flat crown profile type CAW, 26-gauge for widths up to 12'4" (3759 mm), 24-gauge for widths up to 14'4" (4369 mm). End of each slat shall be locked from lateral movement by a staking lock system and cadium plated malleable iron endlocks/windlocks.
2.02 Bottom Bar
The bottom bar shall be an extruded aluminum member, to reinforce the curtain in the guides, and shall have a vinyl weatherseal attached.
2.03 Guides
Guides shall be roll-formed, galvanized steel shapes attached to a continuous galvanized steel wall angle.
2.04 Windload
600 Series carries no standard design windload. (Optional, available with windload designs, consult factory.)
2.05 Brackets
Brackets shall be galvanized steel to support the counterbalance and curtain.
2.06 Counterbalance
The counterbalance shall be adjustable helical torsion springs housed in a steel tube or pipe barrel, supporting the curtain with a deflection limited to .03" per foor (.76 mm) of span. Spring tension shall be adjustable.
2.07 Hood
(Optional hood shall be minimum 24-gauge galvanized steel, mounted to the flange tabs of galvanized steel, rounded support brackets.)
2.08 Operation
Manual push up, up to 100 sq. ft. or 10' x 10' (9290 sq. mm or 3048 mm). Above 100 sq. ft. (9290 sq. mm), operation shall be manual chain hoist. (Optional motor operation.)
2.09 Locking
Interior bottom bar slide bolt. Exterior slide lock for manually operated mini-warehouse doors. Chain keeper locks for chain hoist operation. (Interior slide bolt lock for electric operation with interlock switch.) (Cylinder lock for electric operations with interlock switch.)
2.10 Finish
Curtain slats and hoods shall be galvanized per ASTM A-653 and shall receive a rust-inhibitive, roll-coating process, including baked-on prime paint to be .2 mils thick, and a baked-on white or brown polyester top coat to be .6 mils thick. (Hood is white only.) All non-galvanized exposed ferrous surfaces shall receive one coat of rust-inhibitive primer.
3.01 Execution
The 600 Series rolling service doors shall be installed in accordance with Overhead Door Corporation instructions and standards. Installation will be by authorized Overhead Door Corporation representatives.
